Within an adsorption-synchronized phage population, the rise is the span over which infection lysis occurs, beginning at the end of a so-called constant period (as potentially synonymous with latent period) and ending when the rise in phage titer ceases, all as seen during single-step growth experiments.
CAUTION: POTENTIALLY AMBIGUOUS TERM
The rise also can be described as a release period.
Rise should not be used as a synonym for the post-eclipse/maturation period.
